Fishing for a Convertible
By Zack Dean | August 15, 2011
On Wednesday I was listening to Brant on Air1 (a Christian radio station) and he was talking about a time that he prayed to God. He said that he and his family were in need of a new car so he prayed for one and he said something like "while you're at it God, make it a convertible." He said that evening, he was meeting with a friend and his friend said how they were just given a van and he is feeling like God wants him to give Brant their convertible! Within 24 hours of praying, Brant was driving home with a convertible to call his own! He said he went home and said to his kids "come outside and see what God did."
On to my story.
For over a year now, I have been hoping to get into fly fishing. If you haven't ever looked into it, it can be pricey. Last weekend we went to LL Bean to price out a pole and everything was $179 after a discount in a package. $179! I don't have that! We budget about $10 per person per month for pocket money so after about 20 months of saving I could buy one...
With Brant's story on my mind, I decided to pray about it. On Thursday I prayed for money for a fly fishing pole. I prayed for $200 so that it would cover taxes. By Saturday night, I had $210 in my pocket and went to the store to buy the fly fishing pole! Earlier that Thursday before I prayed, a friend called and asked if I could help out on Friday with a project at his house. Sure I said, and the next 2 days I helped him and he was generous enough to give me money just for helping a friend.
With that I was able to purchase the pole and some lures and I will also be able to take a class on fly fishing, all of this due to God's amazing providential care!
